Brazil grew 9.3 percent this year compared to the same period in 2022. The United Arab Emirates was the third largest buyer of Brazilian chicken during the same period, and Saudi Arabia ranked fifth on the list of shipments of Brazilian chicken. Brazilian chicken exports (taking into account all products, including fresh and processed) totaled 2.629 million tons in the first half of 2023, 8.5 percent higher than international sales in the first six months of 2022, it was reported on Friday. Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

Cumulative revenue in the first half of the year reached $5.168 billion, an increase of 9.3% over the cumulative revenue from January to June 2022. In June alone, Brazilian chicken exports totaled 446,200 tons, an increase of 3.2% lower than the figure recorded in the same period in 2022. Export revenue for the sixth month of the year was $887.5 million, down 6.7 percent from the June 2022 record.

By country survey, China remained the main destination, importing 390,700 tons from January to June, up 33 percent from the first half of 2022. This was followed by Japan with 219,800 tonnes (+8.5%), the United Arab Emirates with 20,100 tonnes (-18.3%), South Africa with 189,700 tonnes (+16.5%) and Saudi Arabia with 176,800 tonnes (+8.4%).
